Hong Kong Plague 1894, silver issue (Private J. Fletcher, S.L.I.) heavy edge bruising and contact marks, good fine £800-900

John Fletcher was born in Ledbury in Herefordshire. A labourer by occupation and serving in the 4th Battalion S.L.I., he enlisted into the Shropshire Light Infantry on 10 November 1886, aged 19 years. He served in Malta, January 1888-March 1891, Egypt, March-December 1891 and Hong Kong, 2 December 1891-19 January 1895. He was transferred to the Army Reserve in January 1895, to be finally discharged on 9 November 1989. The Hong Kong Plaque Medal was his only award. Sold with copied service papers.
