Waterloo 1815, 3 engraved clasps on ribbon, Waterloo, Genappe, Quatre Bras (Corp. William Kibble, 1st Reg. Dragoon Guards) with replacement silver swivel straight-bar suspension, edge bruising, contact marks, fine £1400-1800

Thomas Kibble (William on medal but the only Corporal Kibble serving with the regiment; a Private Samuel Kibble was killed) was born in the Parish of Adgcott (?), Winslow, Buckinghamshire. A Labourer by occupation, he attested for the 1st Dragoon Guards on 10 September 1807, aged 16 years.

Promoted to Corporal on 25 February 1812 he served with the regiment in the Waterloo Campaign and was severely wounded. Fortunate in his recovery, he was promoted to Serjeant on 11 February 1816 and attained the rank of Troop Sergeant-Major on 1 August 1827.

He was discharged on 5 August 1837. The medical report in his discharge papers states, ‘... Sergt. Major Kibble of the 1st Dragoon Guards has received a severe gun shot wound of the left arm, and sabre wounds of the same arm and other parts of the body whilst employed on duty in the field of Waterloo on the 18th June 1815 and in consequence of his age, length of service (&) wounds he is recommended for discharge’.
