Franklyn Noel Dayson was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant into the 2nd Battalion, Monmouthshire Regiment direct from the Pembroke (Castlemartin) Yeomanry in September 1915, but saw no action in France, being attached to the Brecknock Battalion, South Wales Borderers, latterly on duty in India 1917-18 (MIC entry confirms). Seconded for service in No. 1 Mechanical Transport on the North West Frontier in July 1918, he went on to qualify for the “Waziristan 1919-21” clasp prior to relinquishing his commission in September 1921.
