Richard John Sutton lived in Ramsgate, Kent and enlisted at Clapham. Serving with “C” Squadron Surrey Yeomanry, he entered the Egypt theatre of war on 11 December 1915. He was killed in action on 11 December 1915, aged 24 years, in operations against the Senussi. He was buried in the Alexandria (Chatby) Military and War Memorial Cemetery. He was the son of Arthur Stephen and Sarah Ellen Sutton of 21 Abbots Hill, Ramsgate.
