An extremely rare North West Frontier operations M.M. group of six awarded to Major M. G. Hooper, an Assistant Commandant in the Special Armed Constabulary of the Central Province and Berar, India, late Royal Signals

The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, M.B.E. (Civil) Member’s 2nd type breast badge; Military Medal, G.VI.R.(2319212 Sgln. M. Hooper, R. Signals); India General Service 1936-39, 2 clasps, North West Frontier 1936-37, North West Frontier 1937-39 (2319212 Sgln., R. Signals); Defence and War Medals; Army L.S. & G.C., G.VI.R., Regular Army (Capt., M.M., R. Sigs.), mounted as worn, the last with minor official correction to unit, contact marks, generally good very fine (6) £2000-2500

London Gazette 21 December 1937 (North West Frontier), one of approximately 35 such awards for this theatre of war in 1936-39, and one of three to men of the Royal Signals.

Marcel Gaston Hooper was was granted an Emergency Commission during the 1939-45 and was advanced to Captain, with seniority dated 7 November 1944, in April 1947 (
London Gazette 1 August 1947 refers). His M.B.E., as confirmed by the relevant entry in the London Gazette, was for services as a Major and Assistant Commandant in the Special Armed Constabulary of the Central Province and Berar, India: well worthy of further research.
