Douglas Welsh, who was born in December 1924, enlisted in the General Service Corps in March 1943 and joined the Royal Signals in the following month. On which date he became attached to the 6th Airborne Division remains unknown, but accompanying original documentation does confirm that he must have been employed in that corps during his period of service in Palestine in the immediate post-war era. He was discharged at York in June 1947 and settled in Glasgow.

Sold with a quantity of original documentation, including the recipient’s Soldiers’ Release Book, Class ‘A’; “Release Leave” certificate, dated 19 May 1947, which verifies his unit as the 6th Airborne Division; Certificate of Transfer to the Army Reserve, dated 20 June 1947; and official forwarding letter for his G.S.M. for “Palestine 1945-48”, with related registered envelope.
