Frederick Norman Merrick Sharp was born in Chester on 30 April 1914. He attested for service in the R.A.S.C. on 9 October 1939 and served with them until discharged on 10 March 1946. He served overseas with the B.E.F., 13 May - 23 June 1940; in the Middle East, 4 August 1940 - 27 August 1943 - including service in Greece and Crete, 31 March - 27 April 1941; with the British forces in North Africa, 28 August 1953 - 8 February 1944 and in N.W. Europe, 15 June 1944 - 4 September 1945. Sold with a summary of service; original certified copy of Attestation; Soldier’s Service and Pay Book; Certificate of Transfer to the Army Reserve; medal forwarding slip; Transport Work Ticket; named membership cards (2) - Crete Veteran’s Association and Eighth Army Veteran’s Association; several photographs; ‘Desert Rats’ cloth badge (2); R.A.S.C. cap badge; several blazer badges.
