Alexander George Purves was born on 18 June 1901 at Knoyton, Yorkshire and was enrolled into the R.N.R. on 21 August 1918. Demobilised on 18 March 1919, he enlisted into the Royal Scots Fusiliers on 12 July 1920. In 1936 he is recorded as being a C.S.M. with the 2nd Battalion, at Petworth Camp, Sussex. Sold with copied naval service papers.
