Three: Captain C. E. Hamilton, Northumberland Fusiliers

Christopher Edward Hamilton was born on 22 March 1895. Commissioned from an O.T.C. Cadet to 2nd Lieutenant in the 3rd (Militia) Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers on 15 August 1914 and promoted to Lieutenant on 11 June 1915. He was commissioned into the regulars, 2nd Lieutenant in the Northumberland Fusiliers on 15 May 1915 and Lieutenant on 24 July 1916. He was employed in France/Flanders from 11 June to 3 September 1915; in Egypt, 11 March to 10 June 1916 and again in France/Flanders, 4 December 1917 to 18 June 1918. During the course of the war he wounded and mentioned in despatches (London Gazette 22 December 1918). Appointed Acting Captain, 18 April 1918 to 30 November 1920, he was promoted Captain on 23 November 1921. Employed with the West African Frontier Force, 12 December 1923 to 8 December 1926.
