Henry Thomas Slingsby was born and lived in Wittersham, Kent and enlisted at Canterbury. Serving in the 1st Battalion East Kent Regiment (The Buffs), he died of wounds, France/Flanders, on 18 April 1918, aged 28 years. He was buried in the Haringhe (Bandaghem) Military Cemetery. He was the son of Barbara and the late Thomas Slingsby of The Lordens, Peening Quarter, Wittersham.
