Pair: Serjeant T. Todd, 5th Lancers, late 19th Hussars

Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 5 clasps, Elandslaagte, Defence of Ladysmith, Belfast, Cape Colony, South Africa 1901 (4726 Corpl., 5/Lcrs.), carriage between third and fourth clasps with solder marks and broken, 4th clasp a copy; Army L.S.& G.C., E.VII.R. (4726 Sjt., 5/Lrs.) edge bruising, contact marks, nearly very fine (2) £240-280

Tiverton Todd was born in Bermondsey, London. A clerk by occupation, he attested for service in the 19th Hussars on 9 May 1888, aged 18 years, 3 months. In 1896 he was transferred to the 5th Lancers. He served overseas in India, September 1891-March 1898 and South Africa, March 1898-April 1901. Seeing action on both continents, he was awarded the India General Service Medal 1895-1902 with clasps for Tirah 1897-98 and Punjab Frontier 1897-98 and the Queen’s South Africa Medal. Todd attained the rank of Serjeant in December 1907 and in October 1908 he was awarded the Army L.S.& G.C. Medal with a £5 gratuity. He was discharged on 8 May 1909 at the termination of his second period of engagement. Sold with copied service papers.
