Joseph McCulloch was born in Barrow-in-Furness, Lancashire. A Shipwright by trade, he enlisted into the Dragoonsat Glasgow on 2 August 1899, aged 18 years, 8 months. He served with the 2nd Dragoons (Royal Scots Greys) in South Africa, 30 October 1900-8 June 1904. Transferred to the Reserve in September 1904, he was discharged in August 1911. Sold with copied service papers.
