In the roll of officers, N.C.Os. and men of the 21st Lancers who left Cairo for service in the Nile Expedition of 1898, Private W. Hogan, “D” Squadron, 21st Lancers, is stated to have ‘Returned sick from Royan Island’ and is shown entitled to the Khedive’s Sudan Medal with no clasp.
