Edgar Rowe Parry was born on 15 November 1868, and qualified M.B., C.M. Edin. 1898. He was appointed Surgeon Lieutenant in the Indian Medical Service on 30 January 1893, becoming Surgeon Captain in January 1896, Major in January 1905, and Lieutenant-Colonel in January 1913. He served on the North West Frontier, at the relief of Chitral, 1895 (Medal with clasp), and in the operations in East Africa, Somaliland 1903-04 (Medal with clasp). Lieutenant-Colonel Parry served throughout the Great War and retired on 25 April 1921.
