Mr W. R. Harris served during the Indian Mutiny with the British Medical Department as one of 12 Dispensers of Medicines. He took part in the operations against Lucknow from 2nd to 16th March 1858, and is therefore entitled to the clasp for Lucknow and not to that for Defence of Lucknow.
