Army L.S. & G.C., V.R., 3rd issue, small letter reverse (1858 Corpl. George Bragg, 10th Hussars) good very fine £80-100

George Bragg was born in Gainford, Barnard Castle, Co. Durham. A shoemaker by occupation, he attested for service in the 2nd Dragoon Guards on 9 May 1846. He transferred to the 10th Hussars on 1 September 1855 and served in Crimea War, 24 October 1855-7 June 1856. He attained the rank of Serjeant in December 1860 but was reduced to Private in June the following year because of drunkeness. Promoted to Corporal in October 1867, he was discharged at his own request on 10 June 1870. Sold with copied discharge papers.
