Stanley Roy Gardiner was awarded his L.S. & G.C. Medal in January/February 1944, while serving aboard the destroyer H.M.S. Tyrian. She won seven Battle Honours in the 1939-45 War, the whole for the period 1943-44, and including those for the Allied landings in Sicily, Salerno and the South of France.
