Ernest Alfred George was awarded his L.S. & G.C. Medal in June 1942, while serving in the recently launched destroyer H.M.S. Exmoor. That said, she had already seen action in the Mediterranean in late 1941 and shared in the sinking of the U-131 on 17 December of that year, and she would go on to see further action in such Malta convoys as “Operation Vigorous” in June 1942.
