Leslie Louis Sampson was born in King’s Lynn, Norfolk and enlisted at Woking, Surrey. Serving with the 1st Battalion East Surrey Regiment, he died of wounds, France/Flanders, on 6 November 1917, aged 19 years. He was buried in the Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery.

Joe Lomas was born in Stalybridge, Cheshire and lived and enlisted at Ashton-under-Lyne, Lancashire. Serving with the 1st Battalion King’s Own Scottish Borderers, he was killed in action, Dardanelles, on 22 August 1915, aged 30 years. His name is commemorated on the Helles Memorial.
