Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 4 clasps, Cape Colony, Orange Free State, South Africa 1901, South Africa 1902 (Major R. L. R. Macleod, R.A.M.C.) good very fine £160-180

Robert Lockhart Ross Macleod was born at Sialkot, India, on 20 September 1863, and qualified as M.B. and D.P.H. at Edinburgh. He was appointed Surgeon in the Army Medical Department on 30 May 1885, becoming Major in the Royal Army Medical Corps in May 1897, Lieutenant-Colonel in May 1905, and Colonel in March 1915. He served during the war in South Africa, 1901-02, including operations in Cape Colony from July 1901 to 31 May 1902 (Queen’s medal with 4 clasps). He also served during the war of 1914-19, being five times mentioned in despatches and awarded the C.B., C.B.E., and the 1914 Star.
