Egypt and Sudan 1882-89, dated reverse, 1 clasp, Tel-El-Kebir (7509 Pte. T. Ross, 21st Hussars), brooch fitting on clasp backstrap, slight contact marks, very fine, scarce to unit £200-240

Thomas Rose was born in Portsmouth, Hampshire. An Illuminator by occupation, he enlisted into the Cavalry on 12 October 1876 and was posted to the 21st Hussars. He served in the Egypt Campaign of 1882 and was present at the action at Tel-el-Kebir. The 21st Hussars were not present as a regiment in the campaign. Private Rose is confirmed on the 12th Company Commissariat & Transport Corps roll for the campaign. Sold with copied service papers and roll extract.
