Ashantee 1873-74, no clasp (Sub. Lt. R. W. Gore, R.N. H.M.S. Bittern, 73-74) nearly extremely fine £250-300

Robert William Gore was born at Portsmouth on 16 April 1851, and entered the Royal Navy in April 1870. He served as Sub-Lieutenant aboard the wooden screw gun vessel Bittern during the Ashantee expedition of 1873-74 (Medal), and was promoted to Lieutenant in March 1874. After further service abaord the Hercules, he retired in August 1875 and died on 30 June 1895.
