India General Service 1854-95, 1 clasp, Burma 1885-7 (Surgn. C. C. Vaid, 11th Bl. Infy.) toned, good very fine £180-220

Cowasjee Cavasjee Vaid was born on 8 April 1855, and studied at Bombay University where he qualified as L.M.S. in 1878. In the same year he qualified as L.R.C.P. Ed. and L.F.P.S.G., and was appointed Surgeon on the Bengal Medical Establishment on 31 March 1880. He took part in the operations on the North West Frontier against the Mahsud Waziri tribe in 1881, and in the operations in Burma 1885-87, including the capture of Minhla (Medal and clasp). He was promoted to Surgeon-Major in March 1892, to Lieutenant-Colonel in March 1900, and retired on 18 May 1905.
