Punjab 1848-49, 1 clasp, Chilianwala (Asst. Surgn. A. M. Macbeth, 29th Foot) fitted with silver ribbon buckle, light contact marks and edge bruises, otherwise very fine £500-550

Alexander Mackay Macbeth was born at Latheron, Caithness, in October 1821, and was appointed Assistant Surgeon in the 29th Foot on 21 July 1846. He served with that regiment in the Punjab campaign of 1848-49, including the passage of the Chenab and battle of Chilianwala (Medal with clasp). He was appointed to the 33rd Foot in April 1852, to the 10th Dragoons in July 1853, and became Surgeon on the Staff in June 1855. His final appointment was to the 105th Regiment (Madras Light Infantry) in June 1865. He died at Calcutta on 14 February 1866.
