China 1842 (Anthony McGill, 18th Royal Irish Regt.), original straight bar suspension, minor edge bruising, very fine £360-400
1512 Anthony McGill joined his regiment in China, from Bombay, in June 1841. According to the muster lists he was in hospital from January to June 1841. During 1851 he was on escort duty from Fort William to New South Wales. He took part in the Burma campaign of 1852-53 but died at Donabew on 15 March 1853. The recipient’s India General Service Medal 1854-95, 1 clasp, Pegu, was offered for sale at D.N.W. 5 December 1995, lot 47.
