Frederick Arnott was born at Blyth, Northumberland on 14 March 1896 and educated at National School, Blyth and Rutherford College, Newcastle-upon-Tyne. He enlisted as a Private in the 26th Battalion Royal Fusiliers on 29 November 1915 and entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 4 May 1916, being wounded on 4 August 1916. He was commissioned as a Temporary 2nd Lieutenant in the D.L.I. on 31 October 1917 and posted to the 11th Battalion in France in January 1918. 2nd Lieutenant Arnott was killed in action on 29 March 1918 in an attack on Mezieres. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Pozieres Memorial. Sold with a quantity of copied research.
