Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 2 clasps, Cape Colony, South Africa 1902 (Lieut. A. W. Brown, York. Regt.) good very fine £140-180

Austin Wren Brown was born on 4 August 1881 at Aughton, near Ormskirk and educated at Marlborough College. Commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the 4th (Militia) Battalion Yorkshire Regiment on 4 April 1901 and promoted to Lieutenant on 13 July the same year. He served in the Boer War with the 3rd Battalion York and Lancaster Regiment, Decem,ber 1901-September 1902. Promoted to Captain on 12 December 1903, he resigned his commission on 6 April 1906. In the Great War he served as Lieutenant in the Royal Army Ordnance Corps, entering the East African theatre of war on 26 February 1916. Sold with some copied details.
