Oliver Young entered the Royal Navy as a Cadet in August 1869 and became a Midshipman in March 1871. He was promoted Sub-Lieutenant in December 1875 and Lieutenant in 1880. In 1882 he served aboard the gun-vessel Beacon at the bombardment of Alexandria. He retired with the rank of Commander in June 1887 and sat as M.P. for East Berkshire from 1898 until 1901. He died on 9 October 1908. Sold with copied service details and other research.
