Frederick William Loane entered the Royal Navy as a Cadet in January 1870 and became a Midshipman in December 1871. He was promoted to Sub-Lieutenant in September 1875 and Lieutenant in 1879 and retired with the rank of Commander in October 1900. He resumed active service during the Great War. Sold with copied service details and copy of his Last Will.
