George IV (1820-1830), Proof Half-Farthing, 1828, bronzed, large date, reverse B, trident prongs below base of lettering, edge plain, struck inverted, 2.32gm (BMC –; SC 15). Distinct rust marks on both sides indicative of a slightly later striking, practically as struck with attractive chocolate patina, extremely rare (£400-500)

Bt Minshull June 1974. A most interesting piece: comparison between it and BMC 1448 reveals considerable reworking of the hair and a general sharpening-up of the design. Perhaps no genuine specimens of BMC 1447 exist and the reference to bronzed proofs with inverted reverse A is a misnomer for pieces with reverse B
