Cinque Ports Flying Club, a uniface silver award medal by Fattorini, symbolic wings over shield of arms, back named (Folkestone Aero Trophy Race, 1937, 3rd), hallmarked Birmingham 1936, 45mm (cf. DNW 64, 1119). Back a trifle scuffed, otherwise extremely fine and toned, rare; in black fitted case of issue (£120-150)

Plate IV. Sold with an extract taken from the Folkestone Herald, 7 August 1937, p.15, which shows that the medal was awarded to K.K. Brown, chief instructor of the CPFC, who flew the club’s Tiger Moth in the race, averaging 108mph. Brown had placed second in the previous year’s contest and the medal he received on that occasion sold in these rooms for £220 in December 2004
