France, Opening of the Musée Social, 1896, a bronze medal by L.-O. Roty, two male figures walking up the steps into the Museum, reverse seated female figure with racks of newspapers and shelves of books, contemplating a factory scene through a window, 60mm (PBE –; Coll. R. Marx –; BDM V, 236; Roty Cat. 1971, p.92). Minor surface marks on reverse, otherwise very fine and very rare (£30-40)

The Musée opened on 25 March 1895; the medal appeared in the following year
