Not previously encountered by the cataloguers. The purpose of striking — whether political or commercial — is unclear, but style suggests a fairly recent date for the pieces. 1908 was the date of Carlos’ death; it was not commemorated on the national coinage and this set was presumably struck to fill the numismatic gap.
