Society of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce, 1901, a silver award medal by E. Fuchs and L.C. Wyon, bust of Edward VII left, rev. legend in and around wreath, edge named (Captain E. Barnes, for his Paper on ‘The Bhils of Western India’, Session 1906-7), 56mm (E 1863). About extremely fine; in black fitted case of issue by Fuchs (£40-60)

Major Ernest Barnes, b. 16 August 1869, joined the Indian Army from the Royal Artillery in April 1892 and served in the Boer War, where he was severely wounded. He was promoted to Captain in February 1902 and received the Kaisar-i-Hind 1st class in January 1905. Sold with other service information
