The mounted group of five miniature dress medals attributed to Lieutenant-Commander R. Cason, Royal Australian Navy, Australian Active Service 1975, 1 slip-on clasp, Vietnam; Vietnam Logistics & Support 1993; Australian Service 1945-75, 1 slip-on clasp, FESR; Jubilee 1977; Defence Force Service 1982, with clasp, mounted as worn, generally extremely fine (5) £30-40

Robert Cason was born in Brisbane, Queensland on 15 August 1949. He joined the R.A.N. as a Midshipman in March 1969. He saw service on H.M.A. Ships Anzac, Vampire, Buccaneer, Sydney and Torrens in areas as diverse as the South Pacific, Thailand, Hawaii, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Singapore and Malaysia. During this time he was promoted Sub-Lieutenant. In 1976 he took up the posting of Naval Aide de Camp to the Australian Governor-General. Promoted Lieutenant and thence Lieutenant-Commander in the early 1980’s, he retired from the service to the reserve in 1989. In civilian life, he was a pioneer of Nitrox diving in Australasia.
