Pair: Trooper F. Burton, Household Battalion, late Sussex Regiment

British War and Victory Medals (1788 Tpr., Household Bn.); Silver War Badge (B219216) good very fine (3) £40-60

F. Burton enlisted into the Sussex Regiment on 10 December 1915, aged 31 years, 3 months. He transferred to the Household Battalion on 14 August 1916. He went with the battalion to France on 24 February 1917 and received a gun shot wound to his foot on 13 April 1917. Owing to his injuries he was evacuated to England but was able to rejoin the battalion in August that year. The Household Battalions disbanded in February 1918 and Burton was transferred to the Scots Guards. He was discharged from the Army on 2 May 1919 as ‘no longer fit for war service’. Silver War Badge confirmed. Recipient’s service details taken from a letter provided by the ‘Household Cavalry Records’; those provided by the ‘Record Office Scots Guards’ differ slightly.
