British War Medal 1914-20 (Rev.), with slight edge bruise; Coronation 1937, unnamed as issued, together with a mounted pair of miniature dress medals, good very fine (4) £60-80

William Maurice Allan Farren attended Merton College, Oxford, gaining a B.A. in 1908 and M.A. in 1913. Attending the Leeds Clerical School in 1909, he became a Deacon in 1910 and was ordained a Priest at St. Albans in 1911. He was appointed a Curate at Romford, 1910-12 and Chaplain at Meran, 1912-13. He was appointed Chaplain to the Forces at Aldershot, 1913-14 and thence at Malta, 1914-17 and York, 1917-19. For his wartime service his name was ‘brought to the notice of the Secretary of State for War (28 August 1919) for valuable services rendered in connection with the war’. Post-war Farren was Chaplain at Netley, 1919-24, Alexandria, 1924-25, Ismailia, 1925-29, Bordon Camp, 1929-30, Aldershot, 1930-34 and Portsmouth, post-1934.
