Thomas Charles Edward Hughes was born on 9 November 1859, and entered the Royal Navy as Assistant Engineer on 1 July 1880; Engineer, September 1885; Chief Engineer, October 1893; Staff Engineer, October 1897; Engineer Commander, October 1901; Engineer Captain, August 1910; Engineer Rear Admiral, January 1913. Served aboard H.M.S. Iron Duke, 10 March to 24 December, 1914, when he was placed on half-pay. Admiral Hughes retired on 19 February 1915, and died of heart failure on 22 June 1927. Sold with copy service record.
