Frederick Sims was born in Southampton on 13 October 1886. A general labourer by occupation, he enlisted into the Royal Navy as a Stoker 2nd Class on 10 August 1908. He was transferred to the Royal Fleet Reserve in 1913. Returning to active duty in August 1914, he served aboard the battleship Barham at the battle of Jutland. Sold with copied service paper.
