Joseph Drysdale Tait was born in and enlisted at Glasgow. Serving with the 16th Battalion Highland Light Infantry he was killed in action, France/Flanders, on 2 February 1916, aged 23 years. He was buried in the A.I.F. Burial Ground at Flers.

Thomas Holmes was born in Puttington, Durham and enlisted at Washington, Durham. Serving with the 8th Battalion Border Regiment, he was killed in action, France/Flanders, on 3 July 1916, aged 20 years. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial.
