Roger Baron, appointed Assistant Engineer (Probationary), 1 July 1890, Assistant Engineer, 1 July 1891 and Engineer Lieutenant, 1 January 1896. Served as Engineer on the Alecto in Port Lokkho and Sherbro River during the rising of the Timini and Mendi tribes in Sierra Leone during 1898. He later saw service in Somaliland when serving on the Barham. Engineer Lieutenant Baron retired from the service in 1910.
