Military General Service 1793-1814, 3 clasps, Talavera, Albuhera, Vittoria (J. Turner, 31st Foot) edge bruising and contact marks, otherwise good fine £600-800

‘The 31st Regiment sustained heavy casualties at Talavera and Albuhera. At one period in the latter battle, the Regiment was the only formed body of British troops and resisted every effort by the French to break the square. Subsequently, so depleted was the Regiment that it was linked with the 66th Regiment, forming the 1st Provisional Battalion’ (Mullen refers).
