A Sarwan was a camel driver, generally involved in baggage train activities, as distinct from a camel sowar, a mounted rifleman likely to be engaged in combat. This group of medals was bought by Alan Wolfe for $8 in the Peshawar Cantonment bazaar in October 1969, the very beginning of his collection.
