East York Rifle Volunteers, a Major’s 1869 pattern full dress grey cloth shako, the stiffened cork body complete with all silver plated fittings, two part frontal badge, the crown over script ‘EYRV’, rose side ornaments and chin chain, correct pattern plume holder with deep purple period ball plume, one broad band of silver rank lace around the top with further bands of narrow lace to the sides and base; internally the lining has been neatly replaced with a thin linen material, sweat band appears to be period, complete with japanned carrying tin the Hobsons gilt name plate present but detached, the shako in good sound condition (2) £400-500
