John Frederick Owen was born in Aberystwith, Cardiganshire and living in Manchester, enlisted at Liverpool. Serving initially with the the Royal Garrison Artillery he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 3 October 1914 and was later awarded the Military Medal for service with the unit. Later serving with the Signal Sub Section Royal Engineers, he was killed in action, France/Flanders, on 11 August 1918. The husband of Annie Owen of 33 Gladys Street, Lightbourne, Moston, Manchester. He was buried in the Heath Cemetery, Harbonnieres.
