Walter Joseph Wheat was born in Liverpool and enlisted at Seaforth, Lancashire. Serving with the 2nd Battalion East Lancashire Regiment, he was killed in action on 2 April 1918, aged 33 years. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Pozieres Memorial, Somme, France.
