Sidney Walter Eyers, son of Walter H. and Annie Elizabeth Eyers of 4 Mount Pleasant, Marlborough, enlisted at Devizes, serving initially as Private 5770 in the Suffolk Regiment. Serving with “B” Company, 2/7th Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers, he was killed in action on 9 October 1917, aged 20 years. Having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial.
