Three: Private E. A. Smith, Hampshire Regiment

1914-15 Star (4-2844 Pte.,Hamps. R.); British War and Victory Medals (2844 Pte., Hamps. R.); Memorial Plaque (Edwin Afred Smith) extremely fine (4) £180-220

Edwin Alfred Smith, living in Winchester, enlisted at Hamilton Camp, Hampshire. Serving with the 1/4th (T.F.) Battalion Hampshire Regiment, he was killed in action in Mesopotamia on 24 February 1917, aged 25 years. The son of Edwin H. and Charlotte E. Smith of 11 Farfield Road, Winchester; his name is commemorated on the Basra Memorial, Iraq.

Sold with named Commemorative Scroll and slips to accompany the British War and Victory Medals and Memorial Plaque. Also sold with a large portrait photograph, framed and glazed, of the recipient in uniform and another framed and glazed photograph of the recipient as a member of the Hyde Park Rangers Football Club, Winchester Thursday League Champions, 1907-08 (Dimensions approx. 57.5 x 48 and 50.5 x 40.5cm. respectively).
