John Lumsden Lunham was born on 10 March 1879. In training for the medical profession he gained the M.B., Ch.B. and B.A.O. at the Royal University, Ireland. He entered the I.M.S. as a Lieutenant in 1902 and was promoted Captain in 1905. In 1908 he served on the North West Frontier, being present at the action at Kanga. Becoming a F.R.C.S.I. in 1913, he was promoted Major in 1914. During the Great War he served in France, 1917-18. Awarded the Brevet of Lieutenant- Colonel in June 1919, he was promoted to that rank in 1922. Sold with 21 sheets of research - in the main being annual reports of service in the I.M.S. Medals contained in hinged glass-fronted frame.
