George Hughes,who was born in Bootle, Liverpool, died on 9 September 1916, while serving as a Sergeant in the 14th Battalion, Liverpool Regiment, and was buried in Bournemouth East Cemetery (the military plot therein contains a number of “died of wounds’ cases” from local auxiliary and private hospitals). Aged 28 years, he left a widow, who was resident at Parkstone, Dorset.
